RUGBY UNION: Sedgley Tigers need to sort out their poor away form — starting with the game at Stourbridge on Saturday.

The Tigers have been solid at home this season but their away form has been disappointing, illustrated by the one-sided 41-8 defeat at Blaydon on Saturday.

“We have been struggling with our away form,” admitted skipper Chris Wilkinson.

“We are a different team away from home and on Saturday several of our players did not turn up.

“We need to get it right at Stourbridge as we can go above them in the league if we win.

“We have to go into the game believing we can beat them. We had a good win against them at home.”

Wilkinson was critical of his side’s performance last Saturday when they were second best in most phases of the game.

“We dominated them for the first 10 minutes but didn’t get any points on the board and after that we were up against it.

“They were totally committed and played simple effective rugby. They beat us to the breakdown and outplayed us in the scrums and ruck.

“We didn’t put into practice what we had practised in training so we need to get it right this weekend.”
